Jury presentation Innovation Challenge Lausitz

Jury presentation Innovation Challenge Lausitz

Since January 25, 2024, two highly motivated and interdisciplinary teams have been working on the following regional challenges:

Challenge of the Görlitz district adoption and foster care agency:

What measures can be taken to overcome barriers and encourage potential foster parents to open up and take action on the topic of foster children and adoption?

Challenge of the Upper Lusatian District Sports Association:

How can the Upper Lusatian District Sports Association or the sports clubs in the Görlitz district motivate children and young people to take an interest in club sports and, as a result, become members of a club?

The teams have developed exciting and unconventional ideas, which they would now like to present to a jury from business, politics and the social sector in order to receive constructive feedback with regard to the implementation of the ideas.

The jury consists of:

  • Antje Klose (Head of the Structural Development Department,

    Economic Development & International Relations)

  • Tim Berndt (Managing Director of the development company Cottbus mbH and board member of the Wirtschaftsinitiative Lausitz eV (WiL) )

  • Manuela Thomas (Managing Director of the Lausitz Social Network)

Anyone who would like to find out first-hand how the teams proceeded and what ideas came about is invited to take part in the pitches!

Background information:

  1. What is the Innovation Challenge?

The Innovation Challenge is an event in which heterogeneous groups develop prototype solutions for specific problems faced by companies, municipalities and associations in the Görlitz district. The teams are guided and supported by coaches and mentors.

  1. Who should attend?

Everybody can participate! The current teams, for example, consist of a scientist, three students from different departments, two retirees and professionals from different industries.

  1. What is the added value for our participants?

Our participants receive extensive training in various creativity and innovation methods that they can use beyond the event. They apply the methods in practical and regional contact and can thus make a practical contribution to the structural change process. Participants also expand their network and get to know exciting people.

 4. How exactly does this work?

The kick-off for the Innovation Challenge took place on January 25th, 2024 in the Unbezahlbar Lounge, Görlitz. The challenges were presented and the teams were formed.

The teams then work on their challenge in individual appointments and are supported by one of our coaches.

On March 7th, 2024, the teams will present their developed solutions to an interdisciplinary jury in order to receive constructive feedback for possible implementation.
